Operations

Two reasons transfusion product spoils. We have engineered both out.

A wrong unit of blood type can kill a patient. A broken cold chain can spoil a unit before it reaches your IV line. HemoPet runs the only veterinary blood bank in North America that eliminates both failure modes inside a single operation.

  • In-house typing laboratory

Our own lab has performed 186,000 canine DEA 1.1 typings and complete feline A/B/AB typings since 2011 — every unit we ship carries an internal second-confirmation label. You receive a unit that has been typed twice: once at collection, once at release.

  • 48-hour validated cold chain

Every outbound container is a phase-change cool system qualified to hold 1–6°C for 48+ hours under continuous data-logger monitoring. You receive the logger strip inside the box. Spoilage in transit is no longer a variable in your transfusion plan.

  • Four-hub same-day network

Inventory is held at Garden Grove CA, Dallas TX, Columbus OH, and Atlanta GA. Orders placed before 2 PM local time ship the same day on the courier network that reaches 97.4% of our clinic base overnight.

Founded by Dr. Jean Dodds, 1986

“We started HemoPet because a colleague of mine watched a perfectly treatable dog die of a transfusion reaction that should never have happened. Forty years later the problem hasn't gone away — but the supply chain now answers to a standard we wrote, not one we inherited.”
